This report presents a representative cross section of the individuals, organizations and units that have contributed to and been a part of Minnesota floriculture since its inception in 1851 through 1995. No attempt was made to be be all-inclusive, but no events or individuals were intentionally omitted. Information in this report is largely presented chronologically, however, individual segments of floriculture activity have sometimes been presented for a series of years for smoother reading. In other instances, data for the various segments has been intermixed in an attempt to provide a clearer picture. The author, a professor emeritus of the University of Minnesota, has been an active participant in the industry and in many of the events of the account since joining the University faculty in 1949.
