This publication is a 16-page illustrated catalogue of the almost 300 varieties of horticultural plants released by the University of Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station. The lists of varieties include a brief description, year they were introduced and if they are currently available. General research highlights are given along with basic growing information about each crop. Featured fruits include: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries, currants, apples, grapes, apricots, cherries, pears and plums. Ornamentals include: crabapples, maples, red osier dogwoods, honeysuckles, pines, a buckeye, a redbud, Kentucky coffeetree, corktree, forsythia, pearbush, and over 80 chrysanthemums. There is also a page that summarizes U of M vegetable introductions: peas, muskmelons, pigeon peas, potatoes, southern peas, squash, sweet corn and a parsnip. |
